An Express Article from the California Land Title Association
Bulletin 06/07 – 128 - May 7, 2007
PREP has announced a conference to be held on May 22, 2007 in Santa Ana, CA.
Topics for this conference include: A status update from the CA Attorney General’s office on AB 578 regarding electronic recording, and a privacy panel/group discussion on how pending privacy bills will impact business.
Property Records Education Partners (PREP) is a public/private partnership formed for recorders, title companies, real estate brokers and agents, escrow associates, lenders, underwriters, vendors, and other sectors of the real estate industry to improve local relationships by opening and enhancing lines of communication, creating networking channels, and expanding educational opportunities. PREP was formed through an alliance among the American Land Title Association (ALTA), American Escrow Association (AEA), International Association of Recorders, Treasurers, and Election Officials (IACREOT), and the National Association of County Recorders, Election Officials and Clerks (NACRC).
By participating in a PREP Chapter, you have the opportunity to discuss industry issues and find solutions to problems at the local level. By networking nationally through PRIA, PREP Chapter participants will become better informed about industry issues and enjoy a stronger voice when addressing federal legislation, electronic recording and standardization concerns. PREP Chapters in Washington and Florida have been formed over the last several years and have been phenomenally successful.
The California statewide PREP Core Group is in the process of forming five regional California PREP Chapters (other PREP Chapters are currently being formed in other states as well). In this regard, PREP Chapters do not have membership dues, and each chapter determines its leadership, meeting schedule and agendas. All that is required is your participation – the more the better. Current members include the recorders from Santa Clara, Los Angeles, San Mateo, Ventura, Placer, Contra Costa and Shasta counties, as well as representatives from companies and organizations such as First American, Fidelity National Title, LandAmerica, Southland Title, California Land Title Association, Executive Brokers and the California Association of Realtors.
