Bulletin 11/12-89 - March 21, 2012
Charles (Chuck) W. Bennett, Past President of the CLTA from 2004 – 2005, recently lost his battle with a long illness on March 18th. He was 69 years old.
Chuck served on the CLTA Board of Governors from 2001 - 2009, andwas the CEO of an underwritten title company (UTC), the California Land Title Company of Marin, for many years. In addition, he was a long-standing member of a group of smaller underwritten title companies known as “The Family”, which worked to promote the longevity of smaller title companies in California.
In addition to his work for the title industry through CLTA and as an UTC business owner, Chuck also served on numerous other boards and commissions ranging from the Northbay Family Homes, the Marin Association of Realtors Governmental Relations Committee, the Northbay Children's Center, Hennessy Funds and Suburban Alternative Land Trust. Chuck also worked on behalf of countless civic programs such as the Marin County schools, the Novato Human Needs Center, Novato High and San Marin High booster club, Marin General Hospital, the American Heart Association, Marin Breast Cancer Watch, Ritter House and the Marin Economic Commission.
Chuck is survived by his wife Patty, and his daughter Cathryn.
Chuck is fondly remembered by the CLTA staff as a kind and gentle soul who was a delight to work for as both the CLTA President and as a member of the CLTA Board of Governors. He will be missed by us all.
