A bill touted as an easy alternative to probates and trusts, AB 724 (DeVore) has been criticized by the CLTA for its potential to greatly increase fraud and elder abuse.
The bill has been held in committee following a July 14th hearing, though the Senate Judiciary Committee did grant the bill reconsideration at a future date.
The California Land Title Association, which has raised questions about the bill for three years running, joined the California Judges Association, the State Bar of California, and the California Escrow Association in opposing the legislation.
