Mechanics’ Lien Bill Heading to Governor
AB 457 (Monning), which would amend the filing procedures for mechanics’ liens, has passed the California State Legislature with broad support. The bill is intended to enhance consumer protection and reduce payment disputes in the construction industry. The California Land Title Association calls the measure “a bill written with the best interests of homeowners in mind.”
The bill is unlikely to reach the Governor’s desk until a resolution is found for the state’s budget problems.
