A judgment lien creditor is not entitled to receive a notice of default or notice of trustee's sale and is not entitled to share in the distribution of excess sale proceeds, unless the lien creditor records a statutory request for notice. The burden rests with the judgment creditor to keep a careful watch over the debtor, make requests for notice of default and sales, and to submit claims in the event of surplus sale proceeds.
